KSUMC Organizes “Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign”
Dr. Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Saif, Chief Medical Officer of King Saud University Medical City, has inaugurated the Breast Cancer Awareness Exhibition on Sunday morning 02/02/1439 at the Outpatient Clinics lobby. The exhibition was organized by the Oncology Center, and the Medical Director of King Khalid University Hospital, Dr. Abdullah Al-Saqqa, and the Director of University Oncology Center, Dr. Khalid Al-Saleh, have attended the inauguration.
On this occasion, Dr. Al-Saif stressed the importance of periodic examinations for the early detection of breast cancer in specialized medical centers as treating breast cancer at an early stage helps cure the disease and speed up recovery.
Dr. Al-Saqqa said that the exhibition informs women of the importance of early detection of breast cancer and the correct methods of breast self-examination at home in addition to supporting health educators, and he valued the efforts of the exhibition organizers.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Saleh said that there is an evident increase in the rate of breast cancer among other newly diagnosed cancer cases in the Kingdom, adding that the vast majority of cases are detected at late stages. He pointed out that the exhibition is not aimed at educating women only, but also other health professionals working in gynecology in addition to raising public awareness on the latest technology used in the detection of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
