KSU’s College of Medicine Holds Forum on Health Transformation in the Kingdom towards Vision 2030

The College of Medicine and KSUMC held today an extensive forum on health transformation in the kingdom towards vision 2030 with participation from Ministry of Health leaders. In the beginning of the forum, attended by Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Muammar, CEO of KSUMS, several faculty members, physicians, students and trainees, Dr. Khalid Fouda, Dean of College of Medicine, gave a welcoming speech to the guest speakers and audience, pointing to the importance of this forum held in the College of Medicine, which is expected to be a reliable and active contributor to the Kingdom's Health Transformation Program through the efforts of its employees and students and its outcomes and play a key role in raising community awareness and deep knowledge of transformation plans.

Dr. Khalid Al-Shaibani, Deputy Minister for Planning and Transformation and Leader of Vision 2030 Achievement Office at MoH, spoke about the ministry's efforts in developing transformation plans in coordination with different healthcare sectors that would contribute to making big strides in the healthcare sector in the upcoming years, stressing the significant support and empowerment given by the government of this blessed country to promote the healthcare sector. Moreover, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sughayyer, Assistant Deputy Minister for Transformation at MoH, presented the new healthcare plan model and reviewed the experiences of some countries in the implementation of healthcare systems and the benefits of such transformation to patients, and healthcare practitioners and institutions. Furthermore, Dr. Talal Al-Tuwaijri, Governance Program Leader at Vision 2030 Achievement Office, spoke about healthcare governance and institutional transformation and the regulatory and control roles of MoH in the healthcare sector in the upcoming stage, explaining the conceptual framework of the healthcare governance system. In addition, Dr. Hussam Al-Falih spoke on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of Health Insurance Program about health insurance and purchasing of healthcare services as part of the Health Transformation Program in the healthcare sector. Dr. Fouda closed the forum with an open discussion about the impact of health transformation in the Kingdom towards Vision 2030 on medical colleges and university hospitals.
