Faculty of Medicine at King Saud University Receives New Faculty Members

A support unit of faculty members and the medical assistants at King Saud University has recently organized a reception for faculty members and new consultants who have joined the Academic and the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Medical City after the completion of scholarships for 2016 and 2017.  

The head of the unit, Dr. Hamdan Al-Hazmi, said that the unit is interested in attracting outstanding graduates from universities to be appointed as assistant at Faculty, and support them to get international scholarships in the required medical specialties from the best universities and, follow up their studies and receive them after they return. As well as providing an effective environment for faculty members and working on different activities for them, in addition to its role in effective communication with contract instructors.

Dr. Majid Almadi, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research at College of Medicine King Saud University said that Faculty of Medicine and the University City during 2016 and 2017 has received 100 assistant professors and consultants. The number of assistant professors are 77 for both genders and 23 are consultants in various medical specialties who have been trained in Canada, America, Australia, and Europe. It is expected that the College will be enrolled  by 211 professors and assistants who are still in the countries of scholarship over the next two years - God willing.

He predicted that the number of faculty members and consultants in the Faculty of Medicine and Medical City during the next three years in all major and minor medical specialties in the range of 700 professors and consultants who have trained in the best international medical centers in Canada, America and Europe.

For his part, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Khaled Fouda, pointed out that the ambitious scholarship program pursued by King Saud University in the specializations of the best scientific institutions in the world has contributed to provide adequate numbers of qualified personnel and to improve standards of efficiency, and its reflection at many levels in society. As a result of the University's  attention accorded to  the Faculty of Medicine and the Medical City and its continuous support to achieve excellence in serving and strengthening the medical field with continuous follow-up by His Excellency the Minister of Education, which has had a great impact on the development of the College and the development of its faculty members and to keep up with the infrastructure projects, facilities and modern technical equipment that witnessed by the College and the Medical City with the unlimited support to the health sector by our government which was after God the cause of the achievements of the Faculty of Medicine accomplishments in various fields until it became a scientific minaret and a medical institution that the Kingdom is very proud of. In accordance with the achievement of the ambitious goals of “Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030” to find the best ways for the youth of the homeland.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, heads of academic and clinical departments, and directors of health sectors at the Medical City.
