
KSU Organizes 8th Middle East Forum on Pediatric Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases
Under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Badran Alomar, Rector of King Saud University, Prince Abdullah bin Khalid Celiac Disease Research Chair organized the 8th Middle East Forum on Pediatric Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases in the Main Auditorium of College of Medicine in cooperation with the Saudi Pediatric Association. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Khalid Fouda, Dean of College of Medicine and a number of medical department heads. Prof. Asa'ad Asseri, Supervisor of Prince Abdullah bin Khalid Celiac Disease Research Chair, pointed out that the forum is organized in cooperation with the Saudi Pediatric Association and it included lecturers from Harvard University, Temple University in Finland, Great Ormond Street Hospital and King's College London in addition to participants from different healthcare sectors in the Kingdom. He added that the forum discussed a number of topics including the latest developments in pediatric gastrointestinal and liver diseases and nutrition, diagnosis and treatment of celiac disease and ulcerative colitis, intestinal transplantation, jaundice, gastroesophageal reflux disease, milk allergy and pediatric liver failure. At the end of the forum, an awareness campaign for celiac disease patients was held in cooperation with Saudi Gastroenterology Association under the title "Celiac Disease: Questions & Answers" in the presence of Dr. Maki Mako, Celiac Disease Expert in Finland and Europe.
