Saudi Ophthalmologists on Charity Mission to Nigeria Perform 515 Eye Surgeries in One Week
KSUMC Saudi ophthalmologists, who accompanied a Saudi medical convoy to Nigeria, performed 515 free eye surgeries in just one week during their mission to Nigeria. The medical camp was organized in cooperation with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth. The doctors operated on impoverished patients whose blindness resulted from a lack of care stemming from insufficient means and resources in many parts of Nigeria.
Dr. Said Al Wedaani, an assistant professor at King Saud University’s Faculty of Medicine and a member of the team, said that Saudi Arabia has been a source of assistance, a humanitarian kingdom and a major milestone for the relief convoys to various Islamic world countries.
The doctors who participated in this mission are Samir Al Mansouri, Ra’id Al Umair, Saeed Al Qahtani, Omar Al Abbasi and Said Al Wadaani
