King Saud University- Medical City & College of Medicine celebrates World Blood Donor Day.
King Saud University-Medical City celebrated World Blood Donor day to promote the principles of social responsibilities on Monday 18th of Sha’ban, 1435 H. The dean of King Saud’s college of medicine, Dr. Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Zamel sponsored the event along with the members of different companies, Military Sectors, and a number of government organization, and it took place in KSU’s main hall.
Afterwards, The Blood Bank director in KSU’s Medical City, Dr. Farjah Al-Qahtani gave her speech, in which she indicated the importance of blood donation. Dr.Farjah added that the first group in need of blood donation are women in general, due to the amount of blood loss they face during and after giving birth. She also expressed her gratitude for the efforts of KSU’s Medical City in providing modern technology and devices known to be highly compatible with global standards in the field of blood analyzing, which made blood donating possible for all sorts of patients.
On his part, Dr. Fahad Bin Abdullah Al-Zamel, gave his speech in which he said “Today’s celebration is a great example of the true meaning of donation. Donating Blood is one of the noblest act done by the citizens of this society, because it plays a great part in saving the patient’s lives” He continues” I’d like to thank the Military Sectors for their great contribution on KSU’s Medical City campaigns for blood donating, and their help will be acknowledged by the government and the community as well”
By the end of the evening, Dr. Al-Zamel honored the citizens who participated in blood donating campaigns, Military Sectors, and the sponsoring companies for this day.
