King Saud University Medical City Wins Two “Asian” Healthcare Awards
Medical City CEO Dr. Ahmad Al-Hersi received the two awards at a ceremony held in Singapore and organized by the Healthcare Asia Magazine, specialized in healthcare, providing services to hospitals in Asia and healthcare investors in an annual event to honor hospitals with outstanding performance across Asia. Al-Hersi said that the Medical City has come up with many initiatives that contribute to improving healthcare services, like increasing the total bed capacity at the Medical City at King Saud University, which now stands at 1,800 beds, adding that the city is served by three hospitals, King Khalid University Hospital, King Abdulaziz University Hospital, and University Dental Hospital, which holds the Guinness World Record as the largest dental hospital in the world. He added that the Medical City has received many local and international accreditations, including the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI), the Canadian International Accreditation, and accreditation from the American Heart Association. According to Al-Hersi, King Saud University’s Medical City ranked first in the healthcare sector in the Kingdom in the SCIMAGO ranking which focuses on research in oncology, otolaryngology, and environment-friendly solutions, such as installing solar panels at King Abdulaziz University Hospital to generate electricity.
