King Saud University Wins Guinness Record for Largest Dental Hospital

 

King Saud University has officially entered the Guinness World Records for having the largest dental hospital globally. The recognition was received by Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Saqr, Vice President for Projects, on behalf of His Excellency the President of King Saud University. The College of Dentistry Hospital, located at the University Medical City, boasts an impressive area of 37,165.12 square meters. A ceremony celebrating this achievement was attended by notable figures, including Prof. Yazid bin Abdulmalik Al Al-Sheikh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Ahmed bin Salah Harsi, the Chief Executive Director of the University Medical City, and a number of deans of the university's colleges, executive directors, and heads of medical departments at the University Medical City.

Prof. Ahmed bin Salah Harsi emphasized the university's commitment to enhancing healthcare services, supporting educational programs, medical training, and scientific research. This, he believes, aligns with the goal of achieving excellence and improving quality, in line with the evolving scientific and operational landscape. He highlighted the University Medical City's global competitiveness in treatment services, medical research, and its impressive record of patents. Prof. Harsi underscored the achievement as a reflection of the leadership's dedication to science and knowledge, echoing the vision outlined in the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Prof. Saleh bin Abdulrahman bin Saleh, the Executive Director of Strategic Planning at the University Medical City, credited the institution's success to divine support and unwavering leadership backing. He outlined the significant progress made in the health, academic, research, technical, and administrative sectors. The Medical City's infrastructure development and the expansion of its health services network have addressed community needs while focusing on scientific research, health education, training, and financial sustainability. Prof. Saleh expressed pride in the University Medical City's prominent position in global hospital rankings, securing the 64th spot globally and the third spot locally, according to the FINANCE BRAND ranking.  

 

Prof. Sarah bint Abdulrahman Al-Sabit, the Medical Director of the University Dental Hospital, affirmed that the hospital stands as one of the largest in the field of dentistry, covering a substantial area of 37,165.12 square meters. The hospital's comprehensive services include education, training, surgery, and evidence-based advisory services. Specialized clinics cater to various needs, such as cleft lip and palate, dentistry for patients with special needs, oral and facial pain, dental care for patients with special health conditions, and autism-related dental care. Additionally, the hospital houses an outpatient pharmacy and a pathology laboratory focusing on diseases of the mouth, face, and jaws.
