Professor Ahmed bin Salah Hersi, CEO of the Medical City at King Saud University, has been recognized for his exceptional leadership by Becker's Hospital Review, a leading magazine in the healthcare industry. He has been named one of the best 101 CEOs of academic medical centers for the year 2023.
The magazine has reported that Professor Hersi is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Medical City at King Saud University. This world-class medical facility comprises three hospitals: King Khalid University Hospital, King Abdulaziz University Hospital, and the University Dental Hospital, which is renowned as one of the largest specialized hospitals globally, housing over 600 dental chairs. Prior to this, he had several roles at the University Medical City, including Executive Director of Health Affairs and Head of the Department of Cardiology and Electrocardiology at the King Fahad Cardiac Center. In 2015, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board at the "Center of Command and Control," and in 2012, he received the King Abdulaziz Order of Merit "Distinguished First Class" award.
Professor Hersi is an experienced consultant cardiologist and surgeon with several qualifications, including an MBA in International Healthcare Management from the Frankfurt School of Business and Management in Germany in 2017, a certificate of specialization in cardiac electrophysiology from the University of Calgary in 2005, a certificate of specialization in cardiology from the University of Alberta in 2003, and a degree in Internal Medicine from the same university in 2001.
In addition to his impressive qualifications and professional experience, Professor Hersi has made significant contributions to research and science, and he has actively participated in numerous medical conferences and seminars. He is also a member of various medical societies, both locally and internationally.
