King Saud University’s program “Obesity Surgery for Children and Adolescents” is highly acknowledged

The King Saud University Medical City surgical team successfully performed a procedure on a child experiencing obesity and the onset of fatty liver disease. After nutritional therapy failed, the patient underwent an operation to return to his average weight within one year.

The child's father has confirmed that his son's psychological state has improved, and he is now more social with his family and friends. Medical tests have also revealed a significant improvement in liver function and a decrease in blood sugar levels.

King Saud University's Medical City has a pioneering program dedicated to treating obesity in children and adolescents. This specialized program, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, has achieved excellent results and a high safety rate. As a result, it has become a reference center where cases from different regions of the Kingdom and its hospitals are referred.

There is a growing demand for programs aimed at addressing childhood obesity. This is due to the widespread adoption of unhealthy eating habits, such as overconsumption of fast food and a sedentary lifestyle. Fortunately, surgeries to treat childhood obesity have been proven to be highly effective in achieving significant weight loss in patients.

Childhood obesity is a serious medical condition that affects children and adolescents. It has been shown to be a risk factor for developing diseases and serious health damage such as diabetes, high blood pressure, fatty liver, cardiovascular diseases, and sleep disorders. The psychological well-being of individuals in this age group is impacted by obesity. Being overweight or obese is one of the most common reasons children and adolescents are teased or bullied, leading to the desire to isolate oneself.

Due to the challenge of children responding to non-surgical treatments, obesity surgeries are considered a safe and effective method for weight loss and the prevention of associated damages. This leads to outstanding results and improves the child's psychological state.
