KSU Achieves Medical Breakthrough with First Smart Cochlear Implant Surgery

In a groundbreaking medical achievement—the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa—a medical team at KSUMC, represented by King Abdullah Ear Specialist Center, has successfully performed the first smart cochlear implant surgery.

Dr. Maryam Al-Juhani, Consultant of Otolaryngology, explained that this implant represents the latest generation of cochlear implant systems. She noted that the device is distinguished by its ability to analyze and store audio programs directly within its internal memory, with the possibility of future updates. This marks a significant leap in enhancing user experience and improving the efficiency of medical follow-up.

It is worth mentioning that King Abdullah Ear Specialist Center is the first of its kind in the region in the field of hearing impairment and ear device implantation. The center relies on the latest medical technologies and applies the highest international standards in both diagnosis and treatment.
