KSU Registers Patent for “Device for Enhancing Mandibular Bone Growth Using Electromagnetic Field”

Dr. Ali Awad Alrahlah, Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry Consultant in the Dental University Hospital at KSUMC, has registered a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the invention of a device for enhancing mandibular bone growth using electromagnetic field.

Dr. Alrahlah said that this device provides an innovative non-invasive technique to treat mandibular hypoplasia by transmitting electromagnetic waves to specific areas in the lower jaw and can be worn as a headband. He further added that the invention research team included professionals from King Saud University, namely Prof. Ali Eltamaly from the Sustainable Energy Technologies Center at the College of Engineering and Dr. Afnan Alassiri.
